Hi Terry's Kids,
Our kids will be sending a thank you to Terry's Kids, but I just wanted to personally thank you and your non profit for bringing music to my wonderful kindergarten kids. My kids love it and so do I, even though I cannot carry a tune or keep a beat! We have fun. Our population of children never get a chance to experience the joy of music, this has been life changing for them and me. I am able to incorporate music into our learning all day long. In the short time Ms. Justine has been here I have learned so much as a teacher. Now we sing our words, tap our syllables, and the list goes on.
With gratitude and thanks,
Ms. Catherine Carrier
Monte Metal was born in Berkeley and has a deep passion for music. Coming from a low-income family, he has had to seek out opportunities to play the saxophone. He joined Berkeley High School's prestigious Jazz Ensemble and became a member of the nonprofit Young Musicians Choral Orchestra, where he worked and studied with world-renowned musicians including Hubert Laws, Bennie Maupin, Patrice Rushen, and many others. He plays regularly at local cafes and private venues to help his family financially. In addition to music, he excels academically. He has taken several AP courses, and has maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA. He is excited to attend Columbia University next year as an engineer major. With his new saxophone provided by TK's, Monte will continue to study and play music in New York City. TK, with the generosity of Jon and Ann Reynolds, provided Monte with a new Saxophone, TK will also be providing lessons for Monte by our very own staff Artist, the legendary Mr. Tom Scott, these lessons will be provided at no charge. Please check out what Philanthropic has posted.
Weston Carpenter is a new TK's kid on our block. Weston had a deadline. Through the help of TK's Staff Artist,Leslie Darwin O'Brien, we recorded Weston live at his & Leslie's church. I played the upright Bass, and our very own TK's staff Artist, Mr. Andy Eberhard played the Drums on Weston's Video. Weston is a real talent, just a wonderful young man, we were honored to lend a hand. The recording turned out just great.
P.S. Here is what Weston's mom had to say the day after the recording. "Oh my goodness, Weston came home on top of the world. I have never seen him in such an amazing space. All because of you Angel, Les. Please pass along our gratitude to Terry and the cool drummer, Andy."
